You want your executives to be focused, decisive and confident. So where do they go to reflect on their actions, question their decisions, celebrate their successes and lick their wounds?
Executive coaching is a confidential zone where individuals get to take the time to focus on themselves. It offers a safe place to discuss – and learn from – their successes, failures, strengths and challenges. The coach is a partner in supporting the executive to make changes, clarify goals and discover aspirations. In many cases, the coach serves as a sounding board when the executive cannot discuss certain topics with others in the organisation.
Introduction to our coaches
Coaching is a process where the client can be honest, forthright and perhaps emotionally vulnerable. For this to happen, there needs to be safety and the client needs to trust the coach.
At shooksvensen we have coaches with a variety of profiles so we can ensure there is a good fit – a good chemistry – between the coach and the client.
In general, the executive brings the topics he or she wishes to work on and the coach brings the tools and a talent for helping the executive grow and develop. It is not the coach’s job to problem solve or give advice, but instead to help the executives find their own sense of what is right for them. The coach supports the client by sorting through the various internal conversations and conflicts, to have more self-understanding, overcoming disempowering self-talk (which is surprisingly common in executives) and generally to find more ease and confidence at work.
To help executives understand and fully commit to their coaching process, coaches may provide some insight into the workings of the human mind, including how we get ourselves stuck, how we can get ourselves unstuck, how we learn, grow and develop. We use recent findings from neuroscience to make this practical and applicable.
All our coaches are certified by the International Coach Federation (ICF) or other professional bodies for coaches.
Lori Shook, one of shooksvensen’s founders, was amongst the first coaches to be awarded the Master Certified Coach (MCC) accreditation from ICF.
Through her career spanning more than 20 years, she has worked on training and assuring the quality of coaches. She now applies this quality assurance to shooksvensen’s own coaches. You can get a sense of the shooksvensen style of coaching through Coaches Going Corporate, the online programme Lori developed for experienced coaches.
