Coaching skills for leaders
Do your leaders inspire and motivate their fellow workers? Would you like them to create more trust, loyalty and commitment to excellence throughout the organisation?
Too many people have been leaving organisations because of disempowering or controlling cultures and their leaders. Now the tide is changing and 21st century leaders need to be more humane, empathic, people-oriented and empowering.
One important skillset that has been identified for 21st century leadership is coaching. Leaders today need to know how to listen, to ask instead of always telling, to grow people and to understand human nature better. In short, they need to be able to have coaching skills.
Learning to ask and not tell is an important skill, but there is so much more to it than that. Asking really takes a whole new mindset. Coach-like leaders need to have a different attitude – they need to WANT their people to grow. They need to grow themselves and they need to embrace change.
The shooksvensen programmes create that change and makes it stick.
We do not just teach the leaders a set of skills and then leave them to it. Our programmes are designed to provide leaders with the attitudes they need and the skills that matter; then participants truly become great leaders.
This new “coach-like” leadership style will be useful to leaders in many types of interactions: with their personnel, with peers and with other stakeholders.
In order to start using the new skills in their work environment, leaders need lots of opportunities to practise, ongoing support and an organisation that is primed to receive these new skills. Our coaching skills for leaders programme is structured to deliver all of these.
Coaching skills for leaders
We deliver the content during separate training days, four to six weeks apart. The schedule is designed to allow enough time for leaders to practise the skills and attitudes they learned in the training. Between training days, we support leaders in implementing their skills as they work with their personnel through accountability groups, through mentoring and executive coaching, and in Q&A sessions with trainers. We know that practice is essential if they are to create new habits that stick.
We also train leaders in how to implement their skills: We help them understand that using their new skills might rock the boat within their teams. We provide them with tools so they can start a new type of conversation, find different ways to integrate their powerful new skills, and stay committed to shift their leadership style.
For companies wishing to create a complete culture change, coaching skills programmes can be integrated into our other programmes: Leadership development, Culture change and Executive coaching
With coaching skills your leaders become more emphatic and empowering.
